My Shopify sales have dropped

Revenue fell and it isn’t clearly seasonal, you need to know which lever moved.

Reviewed by the Tekovex marketplace team · Shopify store management

A Shopify sales drop is a maths problem: revenue = sessions × conversion rate × average order value. One of those three moved. The audit is figuring out which, then why.

  • Sessions down: an ad account change, a paused campaign, a drop in organic rankings, a broken tracking pixel inflating past numbers, an email list gone stale, or a channel (Meta, Google, TikTok, influencer) that stopped performing.
  • Conversion rate down: a theme or app update that broke checkout or slowed the site, a price rise, shipping cost changes, a payment method failing, trust signals lost, or mobile layout regressions.
  • AOV down: discounting too hard, a bestseller out of stock, upsells removed, bundle offers ended.

A practical checklist

  • In Shopify Analytics, compare sessions, conversion rate, and AOV for the drop period vs the prior period, find which one fell.
  • Check the timeline: did the drop line up with a theme change, an app install/update, or a campaign change?
  • Run the checkout yourself on mobile and desktop, including a real payment.
  • Test site speed (Shopify’s report + a Lighthouse run), recent app additions are the usual culprit.
  • Verify your conversion tracking (Meta pixel, GA4, Google Ads) is firing and not double-counting.
  • Check stock on your top 5 products and your email/SMS send volume vs last quarter.

How Tekovex helps

We run the full sessions/conversion/AOV breakdown, pin the drop to a cause, and give you a ranked fix list. If the cause is in the store itself, speed, checkout, theme, apps, we fix it. If it’s channel performance, we tell you where the spend should go.

Questions

Could an app be causing this?

Very often, yes. Apps inject scripts that slow the store or conflict with the theme and checkout. We audit what’s installed and what it costs you in speed and conversion.

How quickly can conversion recover?

Store-side fixes (speed, checkout, broken elements) can recover conversion within days. Traffic recovery depends on the channel.
